Unusual Color Forms

A simple gene change can often create a flower whose color is different from all those around them. Certain species seem more prone to this than others. Sometimes just the markings are unusual, for example the large spots on chickweed monkeyflower or a lack of spots on spotted coralroot (Corallorhiza maculata—or should we call the unspotted forms Corallorhiza immaculata!)
